The formula has to be modified anyway, so adding GnuTLS could be an option... Not that I'm in favor of that, just pointing out OpenSSL isn't the only way to go.

Actually, the default SSL backend of Wget is GnuTLS rather than OpenSSL (yeah, I know, the GnuTLS project has been denounced by various people), so not compiled against OpenSSL != no SSL capability.
